South Montgomery County YMCA is calling on all young athletes in the area to swim, bike and run their way to glory at the 18th annual Kiwanis Kids Triathlon Series at the Branch Crossing YMCA July 26.

Pre-registration costs $25 with two races open for children born from 2002 to 2007, according to the event’s website. Race day registration costs $30, and awards will be handed out to the top three finishers for boys and girls in each age group. Proceeds from the event benefit the YMCA Partners Campaign.

The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Branch Crossing YMCA, located at 8100 Ashlane Way, and the triathlon course will remain the same as previous years, race director Levitia Simmons said. Children born between 2002 and 2004 will compete in a 100 meter swim, a two-mile cycling course and a half-mile running course. Those born between 2005 and 2007 will have a smaller course, with a 50 meter swim, a one-mile cycling course and a quarter-mile running course, Simmons said. click HERE for complete story
