Cross Country: Lady Mustangs seek to end drought in new-look district

It’s been a while since the Kingwood High School girls’ cross country team hoisted a region championship trophy. The Lady Mustangs are looking for their first region title in three years. The last time Kingwood went that long without the hardware was way back in 1990. However, that team started a 20-year run of consecutive region titles.

Perhaps history will repeat itself beginning with the 2014 Lady Mustangs squad.

But just making it out of district could prove to be the hard part. Two-time defending district champion Kingwood was realigned for the next two years into District 16-6A with state powers College Park, which finished third at the 2013 state meet, and The Woodlands, seventh at last year’s state meet. click HERE for complete story
