Football: College Park gets quick start on fall

College Park is off and running.

622x350-78The Cavaliers skipped spring football again, so they started practice Monday, a week earlier than most of their Class 6A brethren, giving them an extra scrimmage and, hopefully, a leg up on the competition.

“We will be ahead,” coach Richard Carson said.

“Now, how that translates later in the year, we’ll see. But right now we feel good, and I can see the carryover from spring. Even though we didn’t do spring football in pads, we did spring football without pads, and we did lots of football stuff and treated it like spring training at the end of the year.”

Carson planned to spend some of that extra time on conditioning, but mostly he wanted to jump right into football.

The goal is to fulfill the high expectations they cultivated a year ago. click here for complete story
