Conroe will recognize former greats in its 100th season of high school football, and the Tigers will hit the practice field for the first time on Monday. Walker addressed his team during the 39th annual Buddy Moorhead Pigskin Preview on Wednesday in Conroe, as the Tigers try to improve on last year’s 4-6 finish.

“In Year 2, you expect to see progress,” Walker said. “There’s more familiarity with what you’re doing. The kids know the coaches better, the coaches know the kids. I’ve been very pleased with everything I’ve seen since the last game against Lufkin going through the spring, into what we call summer commitment camp. It’s your program now.”

The Tigers will open practice with non-contact drills at Buddy Moorhead Memorial Stadium before moving to the practice fields for the more traditional phase of summer workouts on Aug. 15. They’ll play host to a three-team scrimmage with Huntsville and Lufkin on Aug. 22 and open the season on the road against Nimitz on Aug. 28.click here for complete story
