Qualifying for the playoffs and contending for a district crown have become the norm at College Park, and that’s not likely to change this season as the Lady Cavaliers embark on what they hope will be yet another successful campaign.

Tenth-year coach Candice Collins, who has been at the helm since the school’s inception, has her girls working toward their eighth consecutive postseason appearance, a streak that carries significant weight.
“There’s definitely pressure to go out there and keep College Park at that level,” senior outside hitter Emily Thorson said. “We definitely have a great chance of making the playoffs, winning the district and hopefully doing some damage in the playoffs. We definitely have the skill. It’s just a matter of applying it and playing together.”
College Park finished as the runner-up in District 14-5A last season, behind only state champion The Woodlands. The Lady Cavs posted a 25-11 overall record, including a 9-3 mark in league games, and defeated Klein Collins in the bi-district playoffs before being eliminated by Austin Westlake in the area round. click here for complete story
