Atascocita’s boys cross country team is coming off an historic season, capturing the program’s first district championship last year.

The Eagles edged Kingwood and Klein Oak to take the team honor.

“It was our first district title in cross country in the school’s history, so it was exciting,” coach Todd Symons said. “The guys were excited, and they ran well. We ran on our home course, which allowed them to feel more comfortable, so they were pumped up and they really ran a great race.

“Kingwood and Klein Oak had very good teams, and we came out on top.”

Now the Eagles are starting over, and in a new district, too, making capturing a second consecutive title a daunting feat. They’re going from 13-5A, with Klein and Spring schools, to 16-6A, with The Woodlands and College Park, and they’re making the move without graduated leaders Andres Espinoza and Chris Lamonte. click here for complete story
