After opening the season with a four-set loss to John Cooper, Conroe needed an infusion of confidence.
The Tigerettes got it on Tuesday at the Porter Gym, stopping Caney Creek in straight sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15. Senior setter-outside hitter Jules Vitela, the only Conroe player never to leave the floor, led the way with 11 kills.
“Jules was steady, as usual,” Conroe coach Charvette Brown said. “She can do everything out there. The game changes when she’s not out there, so that’s why she stays in.”
Caney Creek threatened in the second set, with Olivia Wren taking charge. The Lady Panthers trailed 19-16 before Conroe pulled away, with Vitela delivering an ace on set point. click here for complete story
