Texas-Ex Michael McBroom placed fifth in the 800-meter freestyle Sunday on the final day of the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, the premier international swimming event of the year. The American record holder in the 800m freestyle, McBroom (The Woodlands, Texas) took fifth place in the final at 7 minutes, 52.84 seconds. Canada’s Ryan Cochrane won the gold at 7:45.39.
