Volleyball: Oak Ridges wins home opener in straight sets

Oak Ridge sandwiched two dominating performances around an exciting close victory Tuesday night in its home opener, defeating Klein Oak in straight sets, 25-14, 27-25, 25-15.

The Lady War Eagles (16-2) were fresh off a fifth-place finish at the Magnolia Volley-Battle tournament and didn’t show any signs of letting up, especially in the early goings. Jackie Ward led Oak Ridge with 20 assists and six aces, while Victoria Harris tallied a team-high 15 kills. Carly Graham recorded 20 digs, and Raigen Cianciulli added 19.

“I know that district is just two weeks away, but we are still growing as a team, and we still definitely have things we need to improve on,” Oak Ridge coach Tommie Lynn Sledge said. “I feel like this match is going to be some good game footage that we can watch and see what we need to improve on.”
