Football: Conroe crushes Nimitz in opener

Conroe’s offensive line took the fight to Nimitz on opening night at W.W. Thorne Stadium, and the Tigers scored an impressive technical knockout. Conroe bolted to a 28-0 halftime lead and put it on cruise control in the second half, burying the Cougars 49-6 on Thursday.

Dontrell Dock, the Tigers’ senior tailback, rushed for 148 yards and a second-quarter touchdown on 12 carries. Backup Thomas Shirer had nine carries for 46 yards. Conroe tackles Jamie Beaton and Quinton Frerichs, guards Cody Brown and Darius Lloyd and center T.J. Anderson dominated the game, opening gaping holes time and again. click here for complete story
