Fishing: County kids come out to fish at Kiwanis Fishing Tournament

During the last long weekend before fall schedules really start to unfold, there can’t be a better way to relax than a little bit of fishing with family.

On Saturday morning, area children 3-16 years old could participate in the 31st annual Kiwanis Kids’ Fishing Tournament at Creekwood Park in The Woodlands.

“The event’s always great and packed, so they must be doing something well,” Kirk Beverung, father of 11-year-old Logan Beverung, said. “We’ve been doing it at least eight years, and it seems to be getting bigger every year.”

Along with food and drinks, entrants were given free tackle and tips on how to properly fish in the pond, and were asked to bring nothing more than a rod, a reel and a lawn chair. click here for complete story
