Nearing the final stage of securing a $253,000 federal grant for Waterway Cruiser enhancements, The Woodlands Convention and Visitors Bureau board considered what near-future developments are in store for the water taxis, including entertaining the possibility of transitioning them into a free service.

The grant, authorized by the Passenger Ferryboat Program of the Federal Transit Authority, requires a local match of 20 percent. The local match would cost The Woodlands Township $63,461, totaling a capital fund of $317,305 to replace the existing Waterway Cruiser motors, generators and installation of eight payment kiosks. click here for complete story
