The College Park Cavaliers (1-4, 0-1) opened district play on homecoming night with a whimper against the Atascocita Eagles (5-0, 1-0), falling 46-21 at Woodforest Bank Stadium Friday night. The end result, while not desirable, didn’t sully the night for College Park Head Coach Richard Carson.

“We started with a tough one,” said Carson. “I was proud of our kids, we fought back. They were hard to catch up on.”

The Eagles were led by running back Patrick Taylor Jr, who ran for 108 yards on 22 carries, and had two touchdowns. Quarterback Niyl Campbell threw for 167 yards and a score, and ran for additional 83 yards and a score. Wide receiver Quan Shorts caught a 72-yard touchdown, finishing the night as the leading receiver with 75 yards and that score. The Eagles racked up 385 yards of total offense, and didn’t have to punt the ball until 47 seconds left in the third quarter. click here for complete story
