Volleyball: The Woodlands sweeps Conroe

The Woodlands held tight to its spot at the top of the District 16-6A standings on Tuesday evening, defeating Conroe in straight sets to keep its unblemished league record intact.

The No. 3 state-ranked Lady Highlanders (28-2, 7-0) captured a 25-16, 25-7, 25-12 victory over the Tigerettes (17-11, 2-5), the program’s 32nd consecutive district triumph.

“We did some good things, and there are some things we can still go back to practice and work on,” The Woodlands coach Leslie Madison said. “We’re glad to start the second round (of district play) off with a win.”

Rachel Reed led the Lady Highlanders with 11 kills and also recorded two blocks. She posted a formidable .625 hitting percentage, helping The Woodlands hit .354 as a team. Courtney Quinn finished with nine digs and eight kills, and Kendall Cook paced the offense with 26 assists. click here for complete story
