Football: Atascocita hands Oak Ridge first district loss

After scoring just seven points in the first half, Atascocita’s 42-point second half was enough to give the Eagles a 49-27 homecoming victory over visiting Oak Ridge Friday at Turner Stadium.5310ad36cf715.image

Two key interceptions — one by Eagles safety Ramsey Thunder and another by Eagles corner Dominique Harrison — allowed Atascocita to possess the ball for nine minutes in the third quarter and make it a 35-10 game by the fourth quarter.

“Those interceptions were huge and not only were they huge, but we’ve had turnovers in the past but we haven’t capitalized on them,” Atascocita coach Craig Stump said. “Tonight we were able to capitalize on each one and when it happens that fast, you’re up three scores before you know it.”

Atascocita improved to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in District 16-6A. The War Eagles are also 6-1 overall and 2-1 in district play. click here for complete story
