The Woodlands defeated its crosstown rival College Park for a seventh consecutive time on Friday night, holding off the Cavaliers for a 17-6 victory in front of a packed house at Woodforest Bank Stadium.
The Highlanders (6-1, 3-0) used timely takeaways and long scoring drives to derail College Park (1-5, 0-2) and remain at the top of the District 16-6A standings.
“It was a hard-fought battle,” The Woodlands coach Mark Schmid said. “We’re excited about the win — it puts us at 3-0. When you play good people, you always appreciate a win, and I think we played a good football team tonight.”
The Highlanders’ defense held its opponent to single digits for the fifth time in seven games and limited the Cavs to 231 total yards. Three key turnovers — two fumble recoveries and a game-clinching interception — went a long way in helping The Woodlands secure its sixth straight win. click here for complete story
