Matchups between College Park and Oak Ridge might not invoke the same kind of fervor as other rivalries, but with less than four miles separating the two schools, there is always a lot of local pride on the line.
The War Eagles (5-2, 2-1) and Cavaliers (1-5, 0-2) will tangle at 7:30 p.m. at Woodforest Bank Stadium as both teams try to bounce back from District 16-6A losses. Oak Ridge is coming off a 49-27 setback at the hands of Atascocita. College Park, meanwhile, fell to The Woodlands 17-6 last week.
Oak Ridge won last year’s matchup between the two teams, 21-14.
The War Eagles boast the No. 1 offense in the district coming into this week, averaging nearly 400 yards per contest. The ground game has been key, and running back Kwame Etwi leads all 16-6A players with 943 yards and 11 touchdowns. click here for complete story
