U.S. Marine Corps Col. Doug Behseresht retired Saturday in a rare public ceremony at Town Green Park after serving his country for 30 years.

“The community does not get to see something like this very often,” Behseresht said.

Officer retirement ceremonies usually are at a military base, but Behseresht wanted to include The Woodlands community.

“So many people wanted to come and celebrate with us,” he said. “It’s my way of thanking the community for their support.”

White chairs were set up on the Town Green lawn, with the Texas Marine Medal of Honor monument as the ceremony’s centerpiece. Around 300 family members, friends, fellow Marines and coworkers gathered in honor of Behseresht. click here for complete story
