College Park’s Connor Meaux led a storming pack of Cavalier runners to the Region II-6A cross country championship on Saturday, winning the individual title with a time of 15 minutes, 22.86 seconds at Grand Prairie’s Lynn Creek Park.
Meaux and teammates Walter Sagehorn and Adam Breaux finished 1-2-4 individually, and the Cavaliers finished with 51 points to claim the first regional team title in school history. The Woodlands finished with 57 points to finish second. The Highlanders will make their 36th consecutive appearance in Saturday’s state meet in Round Rock.
“It was a great battle between us and The Woodlands,” College Park coach Mike Gibson said. “Every (runner) counts. It takes all five to do really well.”
The Woodlands and College Park also qualified their teams for the state meet in the girls race. Kingwood claimed the team championship with 63 points, followed by The Woodlands (105), College Park (114) and Leander Rouse (123). click here for complete story
