Football: Playoffs time – Five county football teams qualify for postseason

It’s the No. 1 goal for any high school football team, to get to the playoffs for a chance to play for a state championship.

Long shots, favorites, traditional powers and playoff newcomers all get thrown in together, and Montgomery County will be represented by five teams in the postseason.

The Woodlands took the District 16-6A championship by winning its last nine games, including Saturday’s 35-27 victory over Kingwood at Woodforest Bank Stadium. The Highlanders (9-1) will face Klein Oak (7-3) at Klein Memorial Stadium on Friday night. Click here for complete story
