The Westfield Mustangs stormed to a 35-7 halftime lead and coasted to an easy 49-21 victory over the College Park Cavaliers in a Region II-6A Division II bi-district football game on Friday night at Leonard George Stadium.
The Mustangs (10-1) won the District 15-6A championship and now will move on to the second round of the playoffs.
College Park, which tied Kingwood and Summer Creek for fourth in District 16-6A and advanced on point differential, ended the year 3-8.
Westfield, which is ranked No. 3 in the Houston area, jumped out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead on touchdown runs from Akpaffion Tisdel of 15 yards and Rayquan Jones of 6 yards. College Park cut the lead to 14-7 when Dominic Garcia scored on a 22-yard run with 1:23 left in the first quarter, but the Mustangs scored 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to grab the commanding 28-point halftime lead. click here for complete story
