The Lady Mustangs (1-2) were led by Deauzya Richardson, who scored a game-high 36 points, including 23 in the first half alone. The Lady Highlanders (0-3), meanwhile, are still searching for their first win of the season.

“I’ve liked the hustle and defensive intensity,” The Woodlands coach Dana Bruton said. “We’re going to build on that, and we’ve got to build on scoring. Somebody’s got to be able to put the ball in the net.

“I’ve talked about the fact that you have to remember who you’re playing, playing quality teams. Even though it’s a blow to your ego, you’re working toward district. It’s all about the playoffs in basketball, and we’ve got a lot of basketball left to play.”

The Lady Highlanders were led by Amber Terry, who finished with 10 points. Aaliyah Wheatfall, Payton Walker and Katie Burke scored eight, seven and six points, respectively. click here for complete story
