Summer Creek High School track and field captain Joshua Cooper was the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship through Reliant Energy’s ninth annual Scholarships for Champions program.Cooper was selected for the scholarship because of exceptional leadership on the track as well as in the classroom and amongst his peers.

“It was a scholarship based on leadership and academics,” Summer Creek track and field coach Shelton Ervin said. “Josh is strong part of our organization a key contributor for us.”

Cooper, a senior hurdler and relay runner, was surprised upon hearing that he was one of eight Houston-area athletes selected for a scholarship. click here for complete story
