The Woodlands’ defense delivered at critical times, and the Highlanders used that prowess to slip past Conroe 52-51 on Friday night at The Pit. Freshman point guards Jay Lewis and Romello Wilbert put on a show as the Highlanders opened District 16-6A play with the victory.
The Woodlands (14-6, 1-0) never trailed in the game, although Conroe’s Josh Berry came up with a steal and got the ball to teammate Colton Howard for a layup that tied the game at 46 early in the fourth quarter.
Conroe (13-8, 0-1) forced a TWHS turnover with 25 seconds to play and got the ball to junior forward Tremont Moore, but his inside shot rimmed out and he was fouled on the play with 6.6 seconds left. click here for complete story
