Boys Basketball: Burkett scores 34 as The Woodlands takes down Oak Ridge

To say Cameron Burkett had the hot hand on Friday night would be a vast understatement.

The Woodlands’ senior forward scored 34 points, including seven 3-pointers, to lead the Highlanders to a resounding 65-47 victory over Oak Ridge in District 16-6A action.

“We have to rebound well, we have to take care of the ball, we have to keep guys in front of us, and all those little things,” The Woodlands coach Dale Reed said. “When we do that, we’re really good. When we don’t do that, we can be beat by anybody. Tonight we came out and had a great focus. I think we’re getting better. I don’t think we’ve ever peaked.”

The Highlanders (16-7, 3-1) took control of the game right out of the gate, as Burkett and Jack Hammett paced the team with seven points each in the opening quarter for a 20-12 lead. click here for complete story
