Area swimmers and divers have high hopes for Saturday’s state finals if Friday’s preliminaries are any indication.

The Woodlands, Oak Ridge and College Park impressed in prelims at the UIL Swimming and Diving State Championships on Friday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center. Seventeen entries from the area finished in the top eight in prelims and compete in the championship heat Saturday.
