Coming off a strong showing on opening day, Oak Ridge’s Lucero Rosales finished fifth in the girls 128-pound weight class on Saturday at the UIL state wrestling tournament.
The sophomore defeated Austin Bowie’s Riley Gatley with a 10-6 decision to claim the only place at the medal stand for any school in Montgomery County during the tournament’s final day at Garland ISD’s Curtis Culwell Center.
“(Rosales) had a great day,” said Oak Ridge coach Mike Morgan. “Things didn’t work out otherwise, but we’ll get better.”
War Eagles sophomore Kchrys Maban was the other competitor for Oak Ridge on Saturday, losing his consolation match of the boys’ 113-pound weight class to Keller Central’s Jacob Hart with a fall time of 4:24. Hart had reached the second round of the consolation bracket by winning on Friday with an 8-5 decision. click here for complete story
