The Woodlands was picked to finish low in district last year, despite coming off its third state championship.
That wasn’t a great prediction.
With pitcher Chris Andritsos and shortstop Luke Sherley to rally around, the young Highlanders still claimed their 11th district championship in 12 years and went to the area round of the playoffs.
“We had tremendous energy and a great attitude all season,” coach Ron Eastman said. “They got the most out of their ability on the field, and when you have a young man like Chris Andritsos as your No. 1, that’s a pretty good starting point to build around.
“So we had a group that really rallied around him last year and played their tails off.”
