A disastrous second quarter wrecked UIL state tournament hopes for Humble Atascocita.

Despite a furious second-half effort, the No. 2 state-ranked Class 6A team could never completely recover, losing 79-74 to Irving MacArthur in the Class 6A Region II championship game Saturday afternoon at Ellis Davis Field House.

Atascocita (35-2) made only 4-of-13 shots to go with five turnovers in an eight-minute stretch before halftime. MacArthur in the quarter connected on 10-of-15 for a 45-29 lead at the break. click here for complete story
