Baseball: Dual-threat Nate Fisbeck carries the College Park Cavaliers past Atascocita 5-4

Shortstop Nate Fisbeck powered the College Park Cavaliers at the plate and on the hill Tuesday, willing the Cavaliers to a 5-4 victory over the Atascocita Eagles.

Lead-off hitter Fisbeck had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and doubled in the ninth inning. He pitched one inning and allowed no earned runs on no hits.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the ninth, with seven lead changes. College Park pulled out the win thanks to a strong ninth inning. College Park scored on an RBI single by Noah Vaughan off Alden Blest, plating Austin Stokes.

Starter Beau Ridgeway got the win. He allowed four runs over eight innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered 10 hits.

Fisbeck, Colin Cameron and Roosevelt Henderson helped lead College Park . They combined for eight hits and four RBIs.

Blest couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Atascocita, taking a loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed one run.

The top of the first saw College Park take an early lead, 1-0. A solo home run by Fisbeck started the inning off. After the quick strike from College Park, Atascocita responded with one run in the first. Atascocita scored on a solo home run by Tay Anderson.

On Friday, Atascocita will travel to the Woodlands to face the 1-0 Highlanders while College Park has an early bye day.
