In what turned out to a pitcher’s duel, it was Atascocita that provided the big hit to edge College Park 4-1 in a District 16-6A contest on Saturday.
Atascocita pitcher Shelby McGlaun and College Park hurler Peyton Hutchens both put up zeros for the first five innings before both offenses started to come around. No. 1 state-ranked Atascocita (17-1, 7-0) struck for two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to sum up the Lady Eagles offense.
“College Park came to play tonight,” Atascocita coach Ashley Boyd said. “I think early on we were trying to hit the long ball or trying to hit for extra bases instead trying to string together hits. Once that happened, we started pressing a bit.”
McGlaun, a junior Baylor commit, picked up the win for Atascocita, going the distance while striking out 11 batters along the way. click here for complete story
