In a game that would be defined by its defense, The Woodlands could not escape the area round of the Region II-6A area round game against Westwood, falling in a penalty shootout 4-2 at Cub Stadium on Thursday.
The Lady Highlanders missed two of their four opportunities to strike, while the Lady Warriors made each of theirs to eliminate The Woodlands.
“It’s tough, but we’ve won that way and we’ve lost that way,” The Woodlands coach Dina Graves said. “It’s not too much fun when you lose that way, but that’s the nature of the game sometimes.”
Going to penalties seemed unfair given how well both goalies played through the entire 100 minutes of the match, and Graves had nothing but respect for her senior goalkeeper Monica Dallacasa. click here for complete story
