Local 5K to benefit a Highstepper while supporting a resident’s fight against cancer

All funds raised at the the First Annual Kristi’s 5K Scholarship Run will benefit a deserving Highstepper as well as Kristi’s two children.

On Saturday, May 9, join The Woodlands community for the First Annual Kristi’s 5K Scholarship Run. All funds raised at the event will go towards a scholarship fund for a deserving Highstepper, while rallying support for one of Woodlands’ own, Kristi Huerter Herring, who has stage 4 breast cancer.

Herring, a resident of The Woodlands since 1974, has a deep connection to the community. A graduate of McCullough High School and member of the highly reputable The Woodlands High School Highsteppers, Herring returned back to her hometown after college where she now resides with her husband Chris, and children Tristan and Skylar. Herring was an English teacher for CISD for many years as well as a junior high drill team director, where she impacted many students throughout her career. She also grew a love for running, and competed in many half and full marathons, including local races such as The Houston Marathon and The Woodlands Marathon. click here for complete story
