The tennis courts at College Park will be filled with red and blue during the finals after a stellar first day of the District 16-6A tournament from both College Park and The Woodlands on Wednesday.
The Cavaliers will send eight representatives into the semi-finals and finals tomorrow, while The Woodlands has six to run away with the two most at the competition.
“I told them yesterday, I’ve done all I can do, now it’s up to you guys, and they did everything they were supposed to,” College Park coach Henry Garza said. “If we can do the same thing (Thursday), we’ll have a great chance at getting a bunch of kids out to the regional tournament.”
The only finals round that has already been set will be a match up of teammates in the boys doubles, as College Park’s Tommy Porter and Connor Gaul will face Austin Walker and Niko Moceanu. Porter and Connor held off a strong performance from The Woodlands’ Ben Friedman and Adrian Castagnola to win in two sets, 6-3 and 7-5. click here for complete story
