Softball: Atascocita’s Johnson throws complete game in win, 9-0

On a night where the skies threatened with weather, Atascocita’s Kandace Johnson provided lights out pitching from the circle.55289516bf9ee.imageThe junior finished the game going the distance, tossing seven innings of scoreless softball, allowing just one hit, while striking out five en route to the Lady Eagles 9-0 win against Summer Creek at home.

“Kandace has been awesome for us,” Atascocita head coach Ashley Boyd said. “She came in, she’s coming off her elbow surgery and I’ve asked her to pitch a handful of times. She’s started some games at third base, I don’t know that she ever started a game at third in her life, and she’s been consistently our designated player for the year. So I’ve asked a lot of her and for her to be able to get out there and get a complete game shutout is awesome for her, she’s worked hard for it.”

Atascocita (19-2, 9-1 in District 16-6A play) came out from the start running the bases well and taking advantage of mistakes. click here for complete story
