In a non-district match up, the College Park Cavaliers beat the Waltrip Rams 5-2 in 7 innings on Saturday behind Noah Vaughan, who drove in 3 runs with a no-doubt home run to right field in the fifth inning.
College Park got the win thanks in large part to Chandler Morris’s dominant, 6 strikeout performance. Morris threw an efficient 61 pitches, allowed no earned runs, 3 hits and no walks over 6 innings. Hollas took the loss for Waltrip. He lasted 6 innings, no walks, struck out 4, and allowed 5 runs.
The top of the first saw Waltrip take an early lead, 1-0. Waltrip’s threat began with a single by Munos. A single by Contreras then moved Munos from first to second. College Park went up for good in the 5th, scoring 4 runs on a 3 RBI home run by Vaughan and an RBI single by leadoff man Nate Fisbeck.
Colin Cameron moved from 3B to relieve Morris on the mound to start the top of the 7th. After pushing across 1 run, Waltrip faced just a 5-2 deficit with bases loaded. A walk by Lisko set off the Waltrip rally. But, Cameron forced Munos into an infield ground ballto end the game.
College Park will enjoy their last bye day of District play on Tuesday, before facing cross town rival The Woodlands on Friday night at Scotland Yard.
