Girls Golf: Montgomery’s Cooper tied for Region II-6A tourney lead; Lady Bears, The Woodlands in team contention

Montgomery’s Hailee Cooper shot a 66 to place her tied for first at the Region II-6A golf tournament at Cottonwood Creek Golf Club in Waco. Cooper’s 66 ties her with Lake Travis’s Kaitlyn Papp, who helped her team jump out to an early lead at the two-day tournament.

The top three teams and the top two finishers not on winning teams will advance to the UIL Class 6A State Golf Championship on April 27-28 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.

The Woodlands is second in the team standings with Greta Bruner leading the way with a 69. Bruner, who won the District 16-6A tournament, is third behind Papp and Cooper. College Park is fifth after turning in a 315. Kassidy Smith led the way for the Lady Cavs, firing a 75 on the day. click here for complete story
