Softball: Hot hitting carrying Kingwood into playoffs

Since Lauren Hendrix has taken over the Kingwood softball program, the Lady Mustangs have not missed the postseason.

That trend continued this past week, Kingwood finishing 21-6 overall and 9-3 in District 16-6A play, good for a tie for second place with The Woodlands, earning it a spot in the 2015 postseason.

“We’re really excited to be in the playoffs,” Hendrix, who has guided the team to the playoffs in all eight years at the helm, said. “We feel like we’re prepared moving on to play Spring because our district was so rough. I feel like we’re in the hardest district in the state. So the game-in and game-out competition of our district has prepared us.”

Playing in District 16-6A was not cake walk into the playoffs, considering four of the Top 30 teams in Texas play in the district. click here for complete story
