Oak Ridge has 23 student-athletes sign letters of intent

The list of athletes coming out of Oak Ridge High School to continue playing sports continues to grow.

A new batch of 23 War Eagles and Lady War Eagles announced their intentions on Wednesday at Oak Ridge High School, as a student-filled gymnasium cheered on their friends and family members.

“These guys have done an outstanding job as far as putting their education first and on the flipside, their athletic ability as well,” Oak Ridge campus coordinator Dereck Rush said. “This is the first year since I’ve been here we’ve had 40 student athletes who will go on to the next level.”

With Wednesday’s additions, Oak Ridge brings its total signees to 44 student athletes total, including three more from the War Eagle football team, running back Justin Edwards, athlete Riley McKnight, and running back Kwame Etwi.
