Opening the first round of the 2015 UIL 6A playoffs with a single game elimination format and in front of a sold out ballpark, the Oak Ridge Lady War Eagles beat Klein Oak Panthers 10-5.
Oak Ridge jumped out to anearly 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Oak Ridge caught fire after Rodriguez singled. Then Sydlick doubled, scoring Manuel and Davila. More runs came home for Oak Ridge War Eagle when Sydlick scored on an RBI single by Cheyenne Cavanaugh.

In the bottom of the sixth, with the score tied at three, Freshman Autumn Sydlick launched a go-ahead grand slam over the left field fence. Sydlick racked up six RBIs on two hits for Oak Ridge War Eagles.
Even though Jessica Rodriguez allowed five runs over seven innings she still recorded the victory. Rodriguez struck out five, walked three and gave up six hits. Makowsky was the game’s losing pitcher. She allowed 10 runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
Two runs in the top of the seventh helped Klein Oak close its deficit to 10-5. A two-run error fueled Klein Oak’s comeback. Finally, Rodriguez got Taylor to fly out to end the game.
With the win Oak Ridge advances to the area round of the playoffs an d awaits the winner of the three-game series between Austin Lake Travis and Leander Rouse.
