It’s clear The Woodlands will have to rely heavily on pitcher Abby Langkamp if it hopes to return to the state softball finals.

The first round of playoffs proved she’s ready for the task.

With another dominant pitching performance from the senior, The Woodlands swept Montgomery in the bi-district round with a 5-1 win in Game 2 Friday .

Langkamp went five innings, giving up two hits and no runs against the Lady Bears, while striking out seven.

“Abby was lights out pitching,” The Woodlands coach Richard Jorgensen said. “She came back after throwing 130 pitches (Thursday), and we knew we were going to have to grind this one out.”

Through the first four innings, neither team could produce a consistent attack, as Langkamp and counterpart Taylor Skinner of Montgomery battled in a pitchers’ duel that produced five total base runners. click here for complete story
