Montgomery County students honored at Scholar Athlete of the Year ceremony

With a record $38,000 in scholarship money given out, the best student-athletes in Montgomery County were honored Wednesday night at the 10th annual Mike Ogg All Montgomery County Scholar Athlete of the Year ceremony hosted by the five Rotary Clubs of the county.

“It’s a pleasure to address you, particularly a group of outstanding individuals,” said Don Taylor, district governor of Rotary Club 5910. “You’re outstanding young people, and I’m proud to be a part of you.”

Finishing just behind the two were Montgomery High School’s tennis player Jonathon Pache, and Oak Ridge’s soccer player Kaitlin Alexander. Grogan Matthews of Willis High School’s football and baseball teams, and College Park golfer Kaleigh Brady took the bronze awards and $2,000 apiece. click here for complete story
