College Park’s area-round playoff series with Austin High School will be played on the artificial turf of Mumford High School.
A good thing, considering the heavy rain that hit most of Southeast Texas on Tuesday.
“The whole field’s turf, that’s the luxury of going there,” College Park coach Jason Washburn said. “The only dirt on the field is the pitcher’s mound. If it’s not lightning, or pouring down rain, we can play.”
College Park (24-4) swept Spring in two games in bi-district play, coming back to claim a 3-2 victory in Game 1 on Noah Vaughan’s ninth-inning RBI single. The Cavs rolled to a 7-1 victory in Game 2.
The Cavaliers will open series play at 7:30 tonight, with senior right-hander Tyler Mortenson (5-1) on the mound for College Park. click here for complete story
