Baseball Playoffs: Grab your brooms – College Park Dominates Austin 8-1 in Road Sweep

In Game 2 of the Region II-6A area playoffs, College Park traveled to the neutral site of Mumford High School and beat Austin High school 8-1 in seven innings.

In the top of the fifth Austins’ scoring threat was extinguished when Patrick Pate was thrown out at home by College Park left fielder Noah Vaughan to end the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth College Park sent ten batters to the plate and exploded for five runs, highlighted by a three RBI triple by Noah Vaughan. College Park starter Beau Ridgeway, cruised through six innings and allowed no earned runs on three hits before handing the ball over to Chandler Morris for some cleanup work in the seventh.

Austins’ Nick Perez ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.

With the win, College Park moves on to the Region 2 quarterfinals and will face the winner of the Lake Travis vs Klein Collins game. Klein Collins lead the series 1-0 in the best of three matchup. Due to weather, game 2 has been relocated to Mumford High School and will be played at 2pm Saturday.
