Willis’ John Lewis ran the race of his life. And The Woodlands’ Adrian Piperi turned in a dominant performance Friday in the UIL state track and field championships in Austin.
Piperi, a sophomore, won the boys’ shot put with a throw of 65 feet, 5 1/4 inches, easily outgunning runner-up Gabriel Olapido of Fort Bend Hightower. Olapido finished at 58-5.
The Woodlands’ Ellyana Long earned a gold medal in the girls’ high jump, clearing five feet, six inches without a miss to edge Sanaa Barnes of Byron Nelson High School, who had one miss. click here for complete story
