Football: War Eagles lay in spring flight plan

With so many young players to prepare for physically demanding, full-time roles this fall, Oak Ridge coach Dereck Rush was as concerned about hitting the gym as the practice field this spring.

The War Eagles wrapped up spring practice with their spring game last week.

“We definitely had to get bigger, faster and stronger, especially at the offensive line position, and we found a few guys who stepped up throughout spring ball and took those roles,” Rush said.

The first step this spring was to audition replacements for 1,000-yard rusher Kwame Etwi, and Rush found several backs to share the responsibility, including junior Jimmy Moore and sophomore Contrell Green. click here for complete story
