Football: Conroe gets clear skies for spring game

The Conroe Tigers football team finally got to enjoy some nice weather as the sun shined during their spring game Wednesday night at Buddy Moorhead Memorial Stadium.

The scrimmage between the gold team (offense) and the black team (defense) was only the seventh time during the spring session that the Tigers got some practice in.

“It was a mid-second week practice,” Conroe coach Robert Walker explained afterwards. “I think we did well knowing that. I was very pleased with our kids. “When you’re limited like that, you just try and do that best you can. Our kids have been very attentive and eager to learn. It showed their maturity level through this bad weather.”

Conroe, which was 3-7 in the fall and turned in an 0-6 record in District 16-6A, returns quarterback Colby Kizzie. Kizzie, as a sophomore, threw for 1,140 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions. click here for complete story
