Softball: Katy, The Woodlands meet in state semifinals

Kylie Redding and Katy will play The Woodlands in the Class 6A state semifinals June 5 at McCombs Field in Austin. Redding's five innings of relief pitching helped the Lady Tigers eliminate Brazoswood in game three of the Region III-6A championship series.

The Houston area is assured of representation in the UIL Class 6A softball state championship game. Region III champion Katy drew Region II champion The Woodlands in the first state semifinal, scheduled for 3 p.m. June 5 at the University of Texas’ McCombs Field.

Katy (34-6) is in the state tournament for the second time, both with longtime coach Kalum Haack. The Lady Tigers’ previous appearance was 2007, when they defeated Lewisville Marcus in the semifinal before a 1-0 loss to Garland in the final. click here for complete story
