A Klein Forest High School student who had worked hard to catch up so he could cross the stage Saturday died in a car accident on his way to the ceremony.

The accident happened on Interstate 45 at Main at 7:10 a.m., just two hours before the high school held its ceremony at NRG Stadium.

Friends identified the student as Omar Rodas. In the weeks leading up to graduation, Rodas had stayed after school for hours every day to earn enough credits to receive his diploma with his friends, said Brandon Cortes, 18, who had known him since third grade. click here for complete story
