Volleyball: Youthful Conroe team sweeps up Willis in opener

To start the 2015 season, the Conroe Tigerettes volleyball team came out in impressive fashion.

Armed with a team full of talented sophomore hitters and blockers combined with the upperclassmen, Conroe coach Charvette Brown’s Tigerettes roared into Willis’ gymnasium Monday to start the season and swept up the Ladykats, 25-20, 25-23, 25-16 in a non-district match.

Conroe (1-0) only trailed on five separate occasions on the night, but regained control soon after each time.

“It’s an extremely athletic group,” Brown said. “I was kind of talking about that last week. They were ready to go and they’ve been ready to go.”
